Nestled in the heart of Hood River is a true labor of love hand built by a husband (Daniel, Author of Scotomaville) for his wife as a dedication to her son Christian Alois (unexpectedly passed in 2021 at thirty-one years old blindsided by illness).
As you slowly enter the cave, a deep level of stillness surrounds you as a seven-foot cherub wing invites you in as its guardian offering healing, hope, deep rest, and the invitation to explore through self-reflection.
"As I opened the door for me to step inside her cave, as I looked around, I felt a deep, deep sense of peace overcome me."
It took over 'one million touches' for Daniel to meticulously hand-place each non-toxic corn starch bead which encourages sensory exploration.
Sandstone and Basalt Rock help regulate the cool temperatures of this microclimate which emulates salt mines in Europe to deliver halotherapy and pays homage to the geology of the Columbia River Gorge.
"I enjoyed my experience as I was being educated and guided through their holistic wellness package which encouraged me to talk through some of my questions and challenges!"
What is Halotherapy? It's the inhaling of fine, dry salt air to help improve one's respiratory system and skin health and offers stress-relief benefits in every session. That good feeling we experience walking the beach after inhaling sea saltwater mist triggers our brain to release serotonin just like we get pain relief after gargling salt water.
Welcome to FROH Wellness Spa and the Hood River Salt Cave offering 'by appointment only' guided sessions personalized for you throughout your experience, leaving with a Scotomaville experience by ending on rolling the dice of our Initium Game.
